Purpose

The SHINNY Organization resource is profiled off of the USCore Organization profile, which sets minimum expectations for the Organization resource for searching and fetching an Organization associated with a patient or a provider. It identifies core elements, extensions, vocabularies and value sets that SHALL be present in the resource when using this profile.

Usage

The organization profile is required for all screening, assessment and referral bundles.

Required Organization Identifier Types

When an organization is provided, one of the following types of identifiers is required: Tax Identifier Number (TIN), Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), or National Provider Identifier (NPI). More than one of these identifiers is allowed, but only one is required.

In order to ensure one of these codes has been provided, a FHIR rule (invariant) has been created to check the Organization.identifier.type.coding.code. Below are the codes that should be used. A complete list of codes can be found here.
